A tour of fishing tourism of "Moeche", One of the most requested shellfish for their delicacy
VENICE, ITALY - APRIL 2018.
A 'Molecante', fisherman of the 'Moeche', shows the differences between a 'Moleca' and a 'Mazeneta' (female crab with the lower side that is orange) on a 'viero', wooden boxes where the fisherman check the state of the crabs, during the fishing tour of the 'Moeche' in the northern lagoon of Venice, on April 2018.
Moeca is the name that the Venetians give to the crab that is in the moulting phase (spring and autumn), when it loses its shell and becomes very tender and almost soft. Fried moeche is a typical delicacy of Venetian cuisine. © Simone Padovani
